February was on a tear, thanks in part to excellent vaccination progress in the UK. There doesn’t seem to be much regret on leaving the EU. And we have considerable focus here due to opportunity.
As of today, 29% of the British population is vaccinated. We continue to see strong support for the market as England moves toward an end to lockdowns. You can monitor the vaccination progress with the handy site here at Practio.
Rising share prices were, however, interrupted across all markets when the prospect of inflation reared its ugly head. With US 10-year Treasury yields jumping to a one-year high of 1.6%, this has served to unnerve some investors.
Our strategy with a heavy focus on dividend income is somewhat insulated from this. At least for the time being. And we continue to see value in certain sectors for those adding new funds — in particular, travel infrastructure and retail property recovery on the FTSE, where we are up as much as 25% on some positions in February.
Overall, this month, we are up 1.52% gross for the month across the composite portfolio (total aggregate, weighted return across all significant portfolios following the strategy). Our average return since inception is 15.96% p.a.
