I trust you’ve had a refreshing Christmas. We now wish you a successful and prosperous 2021!
And it is looking to start very well. Filled with the hope of resolution. Resolution of the key crisis issues of 2020:
- UK-EU comprehensive trade deal to smooth the Brexit way.
- High-efficacy vaccines to stop the spread of Covid-19.
- Further stimulus provisions agreed to in the US.
December has seen a jolly Santa rally on the back of these timely gifts.
This month, we are up 6.11% gross across the composite portfolio (total aggregate, weighted return across all significant portfolios following the strategy). This brings our averaged since inception return to 16.94% p.a.
Please see our performance chart for more details.
Of course, the challenge we face now is investing in a rising market. Tech stocks are high. But value dogs are still looking attractive.
And there could still be more dark patches. I don’t think many people realise that while economies are recovering, we are still paying for the coronavirus. Much of the asset price rises in late 2020 were fuelled by an injection of printed money and soft interest rates.
Certain market sectors are now abnormally high. So, too, is residential property in Australasia. We are watching and waiting for corrections. And I fear the government might make moves on housing investment next year.
2021 will be a very exciting year. And potentially a profitable one for our strategy.
