Happy November! I’m pleased to say this month has been among the best on record.

Several factors have contributed to this:

1. Very positive vaccine news;
2. The existence of a deep cash pool from government stimulus;
3. And a move into equities due to yield starvation. Fixed interest income has almost dried up in other areas…

On the subject of income yield, some of our portfolio companies are now moving to reinstate their dividend after suspension following lockdowns. This should see increased income on portfolios next year.

For those invested before the pandemic, November will provide some recovery from the worst drawdown we’ve seen since the GFC. And for those who were savvy and risk-willing over the past few months to add funds, some very decent gains on those.

This month, we are up 9.78% gross for the month across the composite portfolio (total aggregate, weighted return across all significant portfolios following the strategy). This brings our average since-inception return to 16.06% p.a.

We are looking to deploy funds over the next few months. A recovering market is a happy event. Though we are watching for volatility to jump in and snap up some quality assets at good prices.

The existing crises of coronavirus reinfection and Brexit could provide such opportunity.
