Growing numbers of New Zealanders believe the country and economy is going in the wrong direction.
Our property is still unaffordable. Wages are not keeping pace. Household debt is unsustainable. Government debt is rising. Inequality is growing. We’re a far more divided country than ever before.
On Wednesday, March 22, Unify NZ organised a regional public event at the Warkworth Town Hall. On the night, Dr Oliver Hartwich addressed critical concerns. He shared his ideas on what can be done and potential solutions.
Dr Hartwich is the Executive Director of The New Zealand Initiative. He was previously Research Fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies in Sydney, Chief Economist at Policy Exchange in London, and an advisor to the UK House of Lords.
The event was supported by Wealth Morning, New Zealand’s leading investment news site.
Teresa Gibson, Unify NZ coordinator, recently commented:
‘As many New Zealanders are witnessing, our country is at the cliff’s edge if the current progressive agenda continues to be pushed through. We need more decentralised, visionary solutions which empower The People.’
Dr Hartwich covered the following important topics:
- Local government accountability and transparency.
- Economic and monetary policy.
- The failing education system.
- Practical regional and local solutions.
Following his approximately 60-minute presentation, there was a robust Q&A for approximately 45 minutes.
Simon Angelo, CEO of Wealth Morning, says:
‘Economic growth affects the fortunes and future financial independence of every investor. Our readers and investors want to understand the issues facing this country in more detail. This is vital. Because that understanding informs them to make future investment decisions.’
This public event was open to all.
It was held at the Warkworth Town Hall, Auckland North, on Wednesday, March 22, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
